Cotswold Cottage
Only 10cm x 10cm and knitted in DK wool, this little house is inspired by the cottages made of iron stone where I live and where generations of my family have lived. I have memories of sitting around the fire in a comfy armchair opposite my Granny in my grandparent's cottage each weekend. She had a hand-embroidered cushion and a small Victorian table with our cups of tea and a sweetie tin on it. I would watch the fire glow and talk about my week before visiting my Granny's tailoring workroom/ shop at the front of the cottage. |
English Country Cottage
The house is only 10cm x 10cm and knitted in pink to represent English roses. The base has a pathway and flower beds stitched with French knots. The hedges are knitted in garter and stocking stitch in a green that looks glorious in sunny English gardens. I live near the Grand Union Canal and always enjoy a visit to walk the dog. Outside the Stoke Bruerne Canal museum, delicious ice creams are available in the summer, and in winter, there is a warm pub for drinks. The village and canal are the inspiration for this design. |
Heidi the Christmas Elf
This 24cm tall doll is inspired by my journeys to Norway and being captivated by the Norwegian Christmas traditions and stories. I became pen pals with a Norwegian girl when I was 9 years old and I stayed many times with her family from the age of 14 years. We are the best of friends and have been through a lot together over our 45 years of friendship. Heidi is my little Julenisse, all ready for Christmas Eve. |
Anneka the Christmas Elf
Another little Julenisse but with a dress decorated with Danish crosses. This little doll is 24cm tall and can be used as a Christmas decoration either as part of a display or on the Christmas tree. She can also be a cuddly pocket doll for little ones. I have used the traditional colours of red and white to reflect Christmas and a traditional Scandinavian pattern decorated in the skirt, bodice, and sleeves. |
Jehane the Witch Doll
This 17cm tall doll is very simple to knit with a picot-edged skirt, collar and hat brim. She is in the traditional colours of black and orange to represent Halloween. Jehane would make a wonderful Halloween decoration as part of a display of sat in the window watching the world go by during an autumnal day. |
Catherine - A Tudor Lady 1546
This is a bestseller and I would advise only for advanced knitters. Inspired by the Tudor period, the dress is knitted in moss stitch to give texture and the underskirt has beads sewn into the knitting. This doll is displayed in many museums and castles, and there is even one with a detachable head! |
Pansy the Rag Doll
Inspired by the abundance of the pansy flower at the end of winter this rag doll is 34cm tall. All my rag dolls are based on peg wooden dolls, Dutch dolls and Pennywoods dolls. I have added hair to this doll to replicate the Tuck Comb Dolls. Pansy has striped tights with a flared skirt which looks like a petal. She is prepared for the winter with a moss stitch scarf. Miniature Christmas Angel & Elf Dolls
These dolls are tiny enough to be put onto the Christmas tree as decorations. The angel is 7cm & the elf is 9.5cm including the hat. They are knitted up quickly with just a skirt, bodice and head knitted all in one. Only the bodice & head uses toy stuffing. |
Halloween Ghost Doll
This doll is a bestseller and very simple to make. The doll only uses two colours, black and white. The ghost is 13cm tall and can be knitted up in an evening. It wears a cape with a hood and looks perfect in a Halloween display or hiding in a corner waiting to be seen. The design is based on the character of Christmas Past in the Christmas Carol novel by Charles Dickens. Catherine of Aragon - Tudor Queen Doll
This doll is 19cm tall & dressed as a Tudor queen. Her bodice, arms & kirtle are knitted in a fair isle motif. The French hood uses garter stitch to give texture & the doll is finished off with beads to portray jewellery. This pattern is for intermediate knitters. |
Ballerina Doll
At the age of 16 years, I trained as a professional ballet dancer in London & was on stage for many years before becoming a ballet teacher. I retired in 2021 & wanted to design a little pocket doll ballerina for tiny dancers. This doll comes with a flat tutu skirt, just like a real ballerina and is very simple to make. It would look perfect on a Christmas tree or just a little doll to pop into a ballet bag. |
Victorian Carol Singer Doll
This little doll is only 13cm tall. She is all dressed up for Christmas carolling with a bonnet and music score. The doll is easy to knit as the skirt, bodice and head are knitted as one, there are no legs. This doll can be used as part of a Christmas display or hung on the Christmas tree. Santa Claus Doll
This doll is only 14.5cm tall & comes complete with Santa's sack. The legs, body & head are knitted all in one. Santa has a detachable hat & would look fantastic on a Christmas tree or as part of a Christmas display. Striped Christmas Bauble
In 2023 I bought a small Christmas tree with the intention of knitting decorations. I could not find a pattern for a bauble that was worked flat, so I decided to create my own. This bauble is 9.5 x 18.5cm when stuffed, this does not include the woollen tie. It is made of double knitting wool and 4mm knitting needles. The pattern is very simple ang a good introduction to colour changes and shaping. |
Georgian Lady Doll - 1808
This doll is 19cm tall & dressed in a Georgian outfit based on the fashions of 1808. She has an empire line bodice with a long straight skirt & bonnet. The shawl & skirt hem are embroidered with French knots, all instructions for this is in the pattern. The embroidery can always be left out if desired. Florence Nightingale Doll
Florence Nightingale (1820 - 1910) was the founder of modern nursing & an English social reformer. This design is styled in Victorian dress and comes complete with a nursing cap & lamp. It makes a perfect nurses gift or part of a historical display. Danish Cross Christmas Bauble
This bauble is 10 x 18.5cm when stuffed, this does not include the woollen tie. It is made of double knitting 100% wool which makes the bauble super soft. It is worked flat in 4mm knitting needles. I have used the Danish Cross traditional motif in this design to reflect Scandinavian Christmas's. This bauble looks lovely on a Christmas tree, especially one with homemade decorations. |
